They are often represented wearing a hat, trousers and a coat, They generally wear black shoes and have a red-haired beard. They also have pointed ears and a pointed nose with long agile fingers. Legends say they live in forests and caves mending shoes and gathering shamrocks. They are mischievous and hide their gold in cauldrons at the end of a rainbow.
