Merci d'avance :)

Introduction :

I will talk about the notion of places and forms of power.
Power is the ability to exercise control over someone, but usually leads to a conflict between those who have power and those who do not.

Problématique: How African-Americans have obtained recognition ?

Plan: I choose to illustrate this notion of speaking in a first part of black slavery, in a second part we will talk about segregation and finally to finish we will speak of the presence of racism.

I - The black slavery in America

First let's talk about slavery, it is the power that white people put on black people from Africa.
This power was held especially in America until the end of the civil war in 1865.
The Americans need strong labor for agriculture such as cotton, tobacco and rice.
During the period of slavery, African people were enslaved and deprived of all their rights as human beings because US and European companies were deeply racist and were prejudiced against blacks.
As we have seen going on with "The Road to Freedom", the US considered them inferior and treated them as second-class citizens.
Slavery was a system in which blacks were the property of others.
We saw with the text "The Slave Trade" that the living conditions on the slave ships were terrible, slaves were packed very tight and chained.
Many die during the journey.

II - Black segregation in America after the abolition of slavery

After speaking of slavery we will see that it has been abolished but that it was giving way to segregation.
Although slavery was abolished in 1865, the continued segregation, black people do not have the same rights as whites.
They do not share the same restaurants, the same public toilets, separate entrance.
The most important and famous story on segregation for me is that of Rosa Parks.
She was an African American civil rights activist.
She is famous because she refused to give up her seat to a white man in 1955 because she was exhausted from the treatment she and other African Americans received every day of their lives.
Rosa was arrested and convicted of violating the laws of segregation.
Martin Luther King, a black American pastor, hopes that one day all people, black and white will be equal.
Consequently, for the 100th anniversary of the abolition of slavery, he delivered his famous speech "I have a dream" we have seen ongoing.
He pronounces the front of more than 200,000 people to demand civil rights for African Americans.

III - Racism still present today

After talk of segregation present even after slavery we now turn racism.
Racism is the existence of human races which considers that some races are superior to others.
Here we are dealing with racism against blacks.
Barack Obama has written a text called "After School" which speaks of white racism against blacks that begins as a child.
One day after school, Obama's mother was reading a book with a black friend of his school. Some neighborhood children began to gather around them, shouting at them and throwing stones at them because they could not bear to see a white girl playing with a black child.
Racism is still present especially in football where supporters of Chelsea
are involved in the largest number of racist incidents reported.
For example, they prevent a black man to board a train to Paris and sang a racist song.
That is why at the start of football game we can see a banner with a message we wanted to convey the players like what we must eradicate racism football but not only.

Conclusion :

In short, slavery is unjust power that leads to civil war in America.
Today we can say that black people are free especially in America where the president is black.
Several events in the recognition of African Americans has increased, although today the recognition is not total.
We could see that black slavery ended, segregation but also that racism is still present it.

Introduction :

I will talk about the notion of places and forms of power.
Power is the ability to exercise control over someone  or influence their behavior(and/or influence the outcome of events), but usually leads to a conflict between those who have power and those who do not .

Problématique: How did the African-Americans obtain recognition?

Plan: I choose to illustrate this notion by speaking, in the (when a noun is modified with an ordinal number it becomes unique and takes up the article "the") first part, of black slavery, in the second part (we will talk: unnecessary repetition), about segregation and finally to finish off, we will speak of the presence of racism even in today's society.

I - The black slavery in America.

First let's talk about slavery: it is the excessive power that white people exercised over black people from Africa.
This excessive power was especially exercised in America until the end of the civil war in 1865.
The Americans needed (sentence in past tense) strong labor for agriculture such as cotton, tobacco and rice planting.
During the period of slavery, the African people were enslaved and deprived of all their rights as human beings because the US and European companies were deeply racist and were (repetition: not necessary to write)prejudiced against blacks.
As we can see on the document  "The Road to Freedom", the US considered them inferior and treated them as second-class citizens. Slavery was a system in which blacks were considered or made into the property of others.
We saw with the text "The Slave Trade(comma)" that the living conditions on the slave-ships were terrible: slaves were packed very tight and chained. Many died during the journey.

II - Black segregation in America after the abolition of slavery.

After speaking of slavery(comma) we will now see how it got abolishedbut rather than end the affliction, it gave the way to segregation.
Although slavery was abolished in 1865, segregation went on, and the Black people were denied equal rights with their White counterparts.
They couldn't  share the same restaurants, or the same public toilets and even had separate entrances to shared facilities.
The most important and famous story on segregation for me is that of Rosa Parks. She was an African American civil rights activist.
She is famous because she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in 1955 because she was exhausted of the treatment she and other African Americans received every day of their lives.
Rosa was arrested and convicted of violating the laws of segregation.
Martin Luther King, a black American pastor, hoped that one day all people, black and white will be equal.
Consequently, for the 100th anniversary of the abolition of slavery, he delivered his famous speech "I have a dream" we have also looked at in class.
He pronounced, in front of more than 200,000 people, the demand of civil rights for the African Americans.
III - Racism still present today.

After the talk of segregation being present even after the abolition of  slavery we now can turn on racism and discuss it a little bit. Racism is the belief or the notion  that some races are superior to others and that race determines the inherent traits of people.
Here we are dealing with racism against blacks.
Barack Obama (it is necessary to give his identity: as the president of  the US)  has written a text called "After School" which speaks of White's racism against Blacks that begins with his story as a child.
In one incidence in the book, One day after school, Obama's mother was reading a book with a black friend of her's from school. Some neighborhood children began to gather around them, shouting at them and throwing stones at them because they could not bear to see a White girl playing with a black child.
Racism is still present  especially in football where supporters of Chelsea
are involved in the largest number of racist incidents reported.
For example, they prevented a black man to board a train to Paris and sang a racist song.
That is why at the start of football games we can see a banners with messages intended to eradicate racism in football but not only here but in other areas as well .

Conclusion :

In short, slavery is the unjust power that has led to civil war in America.
Today we can say that black people are free, especially in America where the president is black.
Several events aimed at the recognition of African Americans has increased, although, today, the recognition is still not total.
We have seen that after abolition of slavery, segregation of the Black people was established and even after its termination, we see that, to date, racism is still on.
