Sagot :
A myth is a story which tells of a (the article 'the' is used when being specific) hero’s adventures with or without a determinable basis or fact. A hero is a man distinguishable by his courage or ability, admired for his quality. Hero can be a product of our imagination or a real character/person. These words are often used when we described the American culture and story because it was founded on myths and made by heroes.
Quelles sont les mythes et les représentations faites des Etats Unis (ensure that when writing English you don't bring in French) ,
To begin with it is a well-known fact that the US are a model of culture since the end of World War 2. The United States is the country of success, most of the US’s (America's) representations shows it. They are multiples, Elvis Presley for the music industry, John Wayne for the Western films, Neil Armstrong for the famous scientists, the empire state Building and the statue of liberty for the famous monuments… These figures are famous, rich and recognized, they give the idea that the US is the most advanced country in the world. That’s why we speak easily of myth to describe US ( we can easily use the US to describe myths).
Secondly the US was traditionally seen as the country that strongly upholds human rights by foreigners. On the one hand US represents heroism, in his (its..his is used for people) history, settlers have killed a lot of Native Amerindians to conquer the Far West (are they really considered heroes for killing the red Indians?). Americans also fought bravely for their right during the American Civil War. On the other hand some heroes fight peacefully to evolve the consciences the masses. During the segregation, MLK (first mention his full names first) was an icon of protestation and his death (no use of 'has' as the sentence is in past tense) sanctified him. Now he was become an example for the anti-racism struggle (He became an example of the anti-racism struggle) .
Furthermore the US is the empire of cinema, American people founded Hollywood, one of the first world’s film studio. For instance the film “Stagecoach” with John Wayne received worldwide success. In the eighties, blockbusters celebrated the American heroism, ordinary Americans were snatched off their common life to become saviors, like we can see in the films Rambo, Rocky or Terminator. Similarly, the musical industry exploded. The appearance of new style like jazz, reggae or blues with charismatic singers was (maintain past tense)exported all around the world. Indeed thanks to their big enterprise like Coca Cola American people have spread their way of life across the world. This fast emergence of power and wealth in the US is the foundation of the (the American Dream is particular)American Dream, in a nutshell the self-made man, the idea that all people can succeed if they work hard, it’s the contemporary hero . Nowadays there is more difficulties to realize the American Dream than before, though it’s always a wish. The American economy stays powerful, however it is the gap between the poor people's wages and rich people's wages which is increasing, and it breaks apart the American Dream which is increasingly becoming a myth.
L’Amérique domine t’elle culturellement le monde , et comment-est elle vu par ses homologues?
Thanks to his colonial Empire and his TNF (full name first before use of abbreviations), US spreads the American way of life and his products. From the nineteenth century, they implanted corporations all over the American continent like the United Fruits. Thanks to the Philippines Asia became opened up to the US. Actually, it is the film series nowadays which share out the American dream onto the world. They represent the American society, examples include the series "Desperate Housewives" which symbolize the relationship between the neighbors in the US.
The American dream is attractive and lots of migrants, legal or illegal, take their chance in US for success. For example Arnold Schwarzenegger has grown up in a strict and poor Austrian family and he wanted to become a bodybuilder and after hard work he won some competition that allowed him to settle in America. On the up and up he became an actor where he attained a lot of success. Even if the American dream is more difficult than before, there is still room for those who work hard to fulfill their dream. That’s why the American way of life stays very influential in the world.
To conclude we must admit that the US is the most popular country in the world. It is also the most attractive, since the American culture was spread around the world especially after the end of cold War. The myth of the American dream stays (present continuous tense) active even if in the recent past it has been considered imaginary and it seems that every person searching for prosperity could have it if he works hard. I wonder whether one day a country could overstep the American's soft power, indeed the American culture is actually the most unique as it is “international”.
