Biographie de Virginia Woolf :

Virginia Woolf de son vrai nom Adeline Virginia Stephen est né le 25 décembre 1882 à Londres.C'est une écrivaine et elle est la fille de Sir Leslie et de Julia Stephen. Adeline reçoit une éducation très stricte et autoritaire de son père. Après la mort de sa mère et de son père, Virginia va être en dépression pendant plusieurs année. Suite à la mort de ces deux parents , elle déménage avec sa soeur Vanessa dans une maison à bloomsburry. Elle decide également d'être membre du Bloomsburry group, où il y a des artistes, écrivains et philosophe anglais. Au sein de ce groupe , Virginia défend le droit de la femme a l'écriture. Puis, elle épouse Léonard woolf qui fait notamment parti du groupe. Virginia quitte Londres et part s'installer à Richmond avec son mari. Là-bas, ils fondent une maison d'édition. Virginia a écrit beaucoup de livres mais les plus célèbres sont :
1. Le Romans Mrs DallOway
2. La promenade au phare
3. Orlando
4. Une chambre de soi
Malgré que Virginia soit avec Léonard, elle va faire la rencontre de Vita, une romancière bisexuel avec qui elle aura une liaison intime. En effet, Virginia était bisexuelle.
En 1941,Elle se suicide à l'âge de 59 ans par noyade dans la River Ouse près de sa maison.
