Washinton DC is the capital of the USA. It's called DC (district of Columbia) to avoid any confusion with the state of Washinton wich is North East of the States at the frontier of Canada not far from Vancouver .
From Boston to New York , Baltimore ,Philadelphia and Washinton DC , it's one of the biggest megalopolis
It's situated on the west coast between Maryland and Virginia.
It's 60 km south of Baltimore, 200 from Baltimore and 500 from New York
There are many institutions as the White House, The Capitol.
