Sagot :

Bonsoir !

A) 1) It takes place in a car: "I continued to drive slowly" (l.1), "trying to save petrol" (l.1), "Calculating Route" (l.19).
2) The narrator is alone in his car. Emma is the name he gave to his GPS and Caroline is someone he knows in real life, possibly an ex-"partner" (l.4).
3) According to the narrator, Emma is submissive ("She accepted my authority, and responded accordingly." l.22) and self-controlled ("Totally unflustered" l.20).

B) 5) Stafford Whiteaker has decided to become a hermit. He wants to move to the "more solitary life" (l.11).
6) He is going to stay in a house, or according to him, a "cell" (l.7), near Shropshire, "some 50 miles away" (l.4-5) from the Malvern Hills. The fact that there is hardly any sign of human habitation is what's special about this place.
7) He has made that decision because he doesn't feel at place in "our Facebook and Twitter-obsessed age" (l.9). He feels "absolutely right" (l.13) about it his choice, and already thinks it's "lovely" (l.7) and "incredibly welcoming" (l.13).
8) Both narrators want to be "left alone" (Doc. A, l.9) and not have to listen to "other people chattering away" (Doc. A, l.9).
9) They completely differ, because narrator  A seems to dislike everyone in general, while narrator B seems to at least have a friend ("let me visit" l.10).

Nathea
bonjour

1- This scene takes place "half a mile" from "Junction1 on the M42" leading to
"Birmingham South"    (les 3 éléments sont entre "  ")
2- Yes, the narrator is alone
Emma is the name he gave to the voice of its GPS system.
Caroline is likely  to be (is probably) his girl friend or wife
3- submissive, self-controlled
4 The last sentence reveals that he doesn't like conflicts as with her real girl friend and he  would probably prefer someone submitted ( how easy life would have been if Caroline would have behaved more like that and in Emma , I had found something like the perfect partner

DOC B
5- Stafford Whiteaker has decided to live as an hermit
6- He is going to stay in a cabin made of cheap timber
7- He isn't nervous about it. He made this choice to live and pray, to admire what is given naturally to him : the landscape, the air he breezes without needing anything else from the 21th century

"in our Facebook and Twitter obsessed age, such withdrawal may seem odd"
"It is like diving......welcoming"
I feel absolutely right

DOC A et B

common point

the only commun point is the freedom. Whiteaker is totally free, as the man in the document A allows himself some freedom towards "Emma" not listening to what she says

There are completely different . Whiteaker is really free from any modern technologies. He is far away from this life and is fully satisfied. The other man is just playing with it GPS as if it was a real person. He is just beginning to think that it would be easier for him if Caroline was as Emma, a non human person

bonne soirée :)
