1.The great famine is also called Potato famine. It is a famine that took place in Ireland between 1845 and 1852. It was due to a disease that instantly destroyed the crops for many Irish. The famine had other causes was the fungus phythosphtera infestans (or potato blinght). it is
suggested that between 750000 and 1 millions people died in the three years from 1846 to 1849 as a result of famine which was about 25% of the population. Many people also emigrated to The New World.
2.James, a
Roman Catholic had lost the throne
of England in the bloodlees war called "Glorious Revolution"of 1688.
William won
the war. He was Prince of Orange, a Protestant
married to Jame's daughter Mary, and became
king of Great Britain, so the country became protestant. James sought refuge with
