On Friday 23 March, a trip to Normandy for the 3rd was organised, at 8.30 am two buses waiting for us in the parking lot of the college.
I settled next to François, who arrived at the American cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer which is located next to the beach of Omaha Beach where 9387 soldiers, men and women, who died during the fighting in Normandy rest. The white marble steles are in the form of a Latin cross representing an American soldier while the Jewish soldiers do not have a cross but a star, then we visited the Memorial Museum which pays homage to the fighters through an exhibition of narratives and Objects.
Then we were eating, then picked up the bus to go to the tip of the Hoc which is located in Cricqueville-en-Bessin between Omaha Beach and Utah Beach with a steep cliff that reaches by place up to 35 m high. The site was chosen by the Germans to house a powerful battery of cannons, the soldiers had to climb the tip of the hoc by means of ladders, ropes.
Last visit of the day, the German cemetery of the Cambe which is close to the beach of Omaha Beach. More than 21 200 tombs, it is the largest German military cemetery in Normandy. The tombs are only marked with a stone with 5 crosses in black granite and then this was the end of our visit.
We've taken the road back to Paris.

The last visit of the day, the German cemetery of The Cambe which is near the beach of Omaha Beach. More than 21 200 graves, it is the biggest German military cemetery in Normandy. Graves are marked only with a stone with alignments of 5 black granite crosses then it was the end of our visit. We resumed the road on Paris.
