I am going to talk about the notion of myth and heroes. A hero is a person admired for his powers or for his courage, actions and a myth is a traditional story related to a country’s culture and history. The cowboys are mythical heroes, they make of good actions and are a big part of the history of the America. We go to see why these cowboys are mythical.

To begin, without knowing really the history of the cowboys and their lifestyle we believe all the stereotypes. That's easy for us to think that the cowboys are people who live in the west, who hunt buffaloes, that the cowboys wear typicals cowboys hat and have lasso.

First we have seen a picture in black and white, there is a cowboy is riding a horse and he is trying to catch cows, he is wearing a typical cowboy hat, and he has a lasso.
Moreover the second document is a still from a movie, the scene takes place in a town in the west. In this picture we can see the boots of a coyboy, so we can think he's the hero of the story because we can see a dark shadow of a second coyboy, he's reaching for his gun, he seems to be the bad guy.

So cowboys are represented as nasty people, They hunt animals, live in community and are not sociable but it's not the real situation. Stereotypes are not always well, they represent badly a population because cowboys are not as they are represent by stereotypes.

Indeed we have seen a document about two brothers, Jet and Cord McCoy, They participate in a reality TV show, « The American Reality » wich shows the life of cowboys in America. They represent their families and their community. They are going on TV to show another image of the American cowboys, they want to be honnest. They want to convey a positiv image, cowboys work hard, the wanted to be fair, they are responsible.

I think it's good that Jet and CorCoy participated in a realityTVshow for shown the real life of Cowboys and They want people to stop listening stereotypes. They allow all the cowboys to feel good because stereotypes destroy their moral.

Many cowboys do that, we have seen there is eco cowboys, cowgirls and militant country singer.
The eco-cowboy is a man, Dan O'brien who craeted the foundation of the Wild Idea Buffalo Company. The goal of this foundation is preserving and restoring the Great Plains Grasslands. Contrary to traditionnal cowboys Dan O'brian takes care of the eco-systeme and doesnt kill animals.

Moreover the cowgirls are a community of woman who represent American strengh, they can be an inspiration for young girls because they know how to fight, they are srong.

Finally the militant country singer is Toby Keith, is a superstar from Oklahoman he's a patriotic singer who dedicated a song to his father a veterant.

All these cowboys, Jet and Cord McCoy, the eco-cowboy, cowgirls, Toby Keith are good person who want to give positiv image of cowboys to other people in the World. They do all to give a good image of their community and have a part of respect

To conclude my opinion of cowboys are changing now I think cowboys are good people, they are not alone, they are a part of a community. Cowboys do action for protect nature, they are leaders, they share their lifestyle on TV, they are patriotic. Cowgirlscan be role models for girls with their strengh.
They want to convey a posotiv image, they have basic values like courage, hard working, honor...
