Self-confidence can be defined as the set of qualities, strengths, and weaknesses that enable a person to approach situations with the certainty of having the ability to cope with them. However, many recurring situations do not find their solution in self-confidence, but rather in the experience one has of these situations.
This form of certainty that one has in oneself, this self-confidence, therefore appears, according to the case, as a result of education and the result of experiences already lived.
It is obvious that self-confidence is an asset that everyone limits, according to his state of consciousness. Self-confidence does not make anyone superior to others in delicate or totally unknown situations. Conversely, self-confidence should encourage moderation and humility.
Self-confidence does not mean having the certainty of overcoming our inhibitions or fears. It is a very useful resource to objectively assess situations and to see with sincerity whether the goal can be achieved or not.
Whatever its foundations, self-confidence never concerns a totality of situations. One can have a very rich vocabulary in English and have the confidence to understand the majority of texts, but this self-confidence does not make us writers. These are two very different fields of action. Self-confidence applies to realistic situations that are well defined by the experience we have gained. Self-confidence is not generic.
