I will talk about a important American politician who became one of the first openly gay officials in the united states in 1977.You may have guess who is it, it's Harvey Milk.

I wanted to talk about mister Milk because homosexuality is a subject of actuality and he had and always  have an  influence on some people.He give hope to people because they was more scared than now of their homosexuality, they was scared to speak out loud and  they was all alone so when Harvey Milk stand up for this cause I think that he save a lot of people.Unfortunately he died too soon in 1978, assassinate.

Mister Milk told us to never give up, on election day in 1973 he lost to be elected to public office so he decided to try it again in 1975 he lost for the second time but he never give up and against everyone's advice he try it again and guess what he lost !But in 1977, Milk, who was known affectionately as the "Mayor of Castro Street," finally won a seat on the San Francisco City-County Board, becoming the city's first openly gay officer, as well as one of the first openly gay individuals to be elected to office in the United States.

Many people was on the side of Anita bryant who was an homophobic and for the proposition 6 ( Proposition 6 would have banned gays and lesbians from working in California's public schools. Thanks to Harvey Milk this proposition has never been adopted) and she told to everyone that to be homosexual is not to be normal it's to be a sort of  monster, is to have a mental illness and some homosexuals wanted to die, but Milk as a really kind man care about people issue and convince them mostly young to not commit  suicide because of this sort of nonsense speech.

Like I say it before homosexuality is always a subject of actuality and now people are committed to fighting against the proposition 8 ( proposition 8 was created to eliminates rights of same sex to be married), fortunately homosexuals and other people stand up for this cause more than in the twenty century and this is wonderful, because they are not monsters they are human and they should have the rights to do what they should do if they was heterosexual, they are not different. People think they are but no, homosexual doesn't wrong, society does.
