Internet is a revolution in our society. You can shop, get informations on the news of the world, reserve your next holidays, a plane or train ticket, work from home : think of a young mum, she can take care of her kids and work as well; some one working in a big multinational society can have conferences with partners in the States or Japan.So many example of what you can do without going out.....
Maybe too much in a way.
It's sometimes dangerous.....Have you heard of hackers; they can penetrate any very secured banks, find lots of informations on huge business societies etc.... it's a game for them, so easy.
The social networks are very sneaky as well. Of course you can meet someone you knew and whom you've lost the addres, you can have your wall and post funny things...Is it always funny? Are you happy to have -I don't know how much- virtual friends you'll never met.They can say anything about you to anyone you don't even know. Imagine that one day, after a party , or whatever, you post a weird photo of you to a friend; are you sure that will stay private ??? How many kids suicide themselves after stories like that.
My mum doesn't want me to have an account on a social net work, as Facebook, neither does she. I don't want to anyway.
She is sometimes angry because we HAVE TO have internet and of course a printer. You don't have the choice, it's the consumer society. You don't talk to people; you just talk with your fingers.....She received a concocation last time by mail; she had to print it and the printer wasn't working anymore and they didn'want to send it by the post office.
She knows we need it for our studies but before they could study as well.
She liked when she had to go to the librairy for hours to make research. She reads a lot and I think that people of our generation don't read any more. We have so much new tecnologies...
