The most famous gangster the history of the nation , Alphonse Capone , better known as Al Capone or Scarface, ran Chicago with blood and guns during the 1920s Prohibition era. Capone was born in Brooklyn , New york, on january 17th , 1899 to two italian immigrants. From the begginig he didn't respond well to authorit: He was expelled from school at the age of 14, because he beat a female teacher. Facing a life of low paying jobs , he joined tge street gang led by Jonhy Torrio.
Later , they moved to Chicago. He used to make money smuggling illegal alcoholic beverages into the city during the prohibition. Torrio became boss of Chicago, and Capone became manager of alcohol for the city. Al Capone used to break the bones , the arms , legs and even skulls of his enemies. He became head of the Chicago mafia after Torrio was seriosly wounded in an assassinatio attempt. On February 14th , 1929 , he ordered the shooting of Bugs Moran wasn't in the group. It was called the St. Valentine's Day Massacre.
On November 24th , 1929 , Al Capone was sentenced to 11 years in Alcatraz Federal prison. He' was released in 1939. His mental and physical condition has severly deteriorated and he entered Baltimore hospital. He died of a stroke and pneumonia on January 25th , 1947 , having killed Eddy O'Hare before he died.
