The Statue of Liberty was an important symbol for immigrants in the 19th century and early 20th century. It is on Liberty Island. The immigrants stop at Ellis Island before entering the United States. Wall Street is the home of the New York Stock Exchange. The name given to the World Trade Center is the twin towers, but they were destroyed by a terrorist attack on September 11th 2001. The term used to describe the site now is Ground Zero. The Hudson river separates New York City from the state of New Jersey. Baseball is most popular sport in the United States of America. The 5th Avenue is considered the main shopping streets in the world. In New York there are big monuments: the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building. Its main theatres are the Schubert and the Imperial. Its main museums are: Guggenheim and the Met. There are two famous bridges: the Verrazano Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge.
