Black History Month was established in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson (1875-1950), an African-American historian who founded the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) in 1915. First a week-long event, Negro History Week then became Black History Month in 1976.
Our research notebook has covered many topics that could be of interest to those who want to learn about black history. Black History Month is no longer only an American event, and we felt it was an opportune time to revisit some of these previously articles. Some of them have been translated into English.
