Bonjour, est ce que quelqu'un pourrait me corriger s'il vous plait ? C'est urgent..

Introduction

I'm going to talk about the notion of “Seats and forms of power”. To start with, I would like to give a definition of this notion :
«Seats» could be important buildings or institutions that represent a certain form of power, for example Buckingham Palace, it can also be a country or a state, for example the USA is a state which is powerful enough to influence events throughout the world.
In politics and social sciences, power is the ability to influence the behavior of people, the ability to make things happen despite obstacles, resistance, or opposition. In order to live together, members of a community accept rules, regulations, laws. This helps to create social cohesion but this also lead to conflicts and tensions between those who have power and those who don’t.
We may wonder how the power control the freedom of thought and expression of people ?
My presentation will fall into 2 parts : First, I will concentrate on the power of dictatorship, and then on the power of media.

Development

Firstly, we can see how dictators control people with a drawing called “Big Brother is watching you” and an extracts from “1984” a book wrote by George Howell in 1949. The novel presents an imaginary future where a totalitarian state controls every aspect of life, even people thoughts. The state is called Oceania and is ruled by a group known as the Party headed by Big Brother, an entity which watch people all the time. By curtailing frivolous and “fighting” words, the Party seeks to narrow the range of thought altogether, because expressing yourself is freedom, the vocabulary is freedom. They do that so that eventually thought-crime will be literally impossible. They also control people thoughts by changing the History, they control and eliminate the records of the past and present. And without physical records outside of their own memory, people can't distinguish truth from untruthfulness. Oceanians are used to living in a constant state of surveillance, either through technology or police patrol. For example, when children are mesmerize by technology, they stop thinking.

Secondly, if we look at the power of the media for example, we can see how much it can influence the public opinion. The mass media plays an important role in forming our personality, enriching our knowledge, providing us with information of any kind.
Mass media like social networks, can have an effect on our personal identity: it can help us to feel that we are part of a group but on the other hand it can contribute to a feeling of isolation as we can see with a press article by India Currents entitled “A new country” and published in 2011.
Media can have a strong political influence or can shape the way we perceive certain groups of society, it's powerful because it makes us believe what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Furthermore, the press which is called the fifth power can shapes public opinion by using specific words instead of other and reporting a fact, skipping some aspects. It's true that the press can also be an effective counter-power as we can see with the Watergate Scandal. But it can easily turn into an abuse of power as we can see with a press article by Addullatif AL SAYEGH published in 2011. This article talk about Rupert Murdoch, the most powerful man in world media, he is at the head of the “News of the World” and to publish an article, his journalists got their information from hacking into the voice mail of victims of murder. As a result, they lost their readers by offending them and their advertisers because they didn't want to support disgusting and shameless acts. The destiny of this paper is ironical because Rupert Murdoch is so wealthy that it wasn't a problem for him, he'll just start a new paper and do the same thing.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we can say that to have power, people are always trying to control the thoughts of others and their behavior. The power doesn't encourage freedom. But even when authority seems absolute, there are always counter-powers which question it, aim at limiting its excesses and resist it.
I think that we shouldn't let ourselves be taken advantages of and we should always pay attention to what we are given as information because they aren't always true or represent only a part of the truth, we must keep a critical mind.

Sagot :

Je suis malheureusement sur téléphone je ne peux donc pas citer les lignes avec exactitude. INTRODUCTION : 1) "To start with, I would like to give a definition of this notion" => To begin, I'll give you the definition of the following notion : "seats" 2) "the behavior of people" => People's behavior. 3) "But this also" => But in the other hand it also... DEVELOPMENT: 4) "even people thoughts" => even people's thoughts. 5) "They do that so that..." => They might do that to prevent thought-crimes, it will also become literarlly impossible to do those king of things. 6) "of their own memory, people" => own memories, people's 7) "truth from untruthfulness" => pourquoi ne pas mettre lies ? 8) "Oceanians are used..." => Oce* used to live in a state of surveillance... 9) "either through" => enlevé le either ? 10) "providing us with information..." => us with all kind of informations. 11) "and published in 2011..." => enlève le and. 12) "but it can easily turn" ajoute le verbe be entre easily et turned. CONCLUSION : 13) "we can say that to have power" => we can say that people who have power will always try to control... 14) "and their behavior" => behaviors.
