We are going to deal with the notion of idea of progress. First, Id'like to give the (as yo are referring to a subject you had already mentioned) definition of progress. (a sentence begins with a capital letter) progress is a steady evolution towards a better state. This evolution is very often the source of worries because of all the possible consequences . Several themes may illustrate this notion, progress can be social , technical or scientific.
In relation to the notion , the subject of my presentation will be the influence of internet on people's life. with the emergence of the internet , the way information is broadcast has evolved .
It is called the 5th power.Internet has made information generalized. Any one can have access to it and even contribute via sites such as Wikipedia .
Yet, we may wonder to what extent the internet has created new liberties or constraints but also new alienation and its impact on social communication, codes ethics and responsibility.
In a first part, I shall present the positive influence of internet in our life and then I shall approach the negative aspect of internet.
In the first part, I shall present the positive influence of internet in our life. Internet is a source of information we need in our day to day life. To my mind (In my mind) Internet makes the culture available and free.
For example paintings , music and encyclopedia. In the documents "Living with internet " it says that the highest number of activity on the Internet today is consumers looking for information before they purchasse something online. Moreover, Internet is the best way of communication with the world. I must admit that social network is the best way to communicate with friends. The document "the web's hottest platform" explain how Facebook is a compagny created by MZ (before using abbreviations you should first use the full name first) in 2004 and how it became very popular in the world in 2006. He created it in an effort to find a better way to connect with his schoolmates. Today the number of users is 800 million. So that shows that how Facebook has had a lot of influence in the world. At first sight is a good thing for culture and communication, yet internet is also a bad thing.
Secondly violence and some queer behavior invade this plat form. Next the anonymity can have advantages for people but nevertheless drawback for some people at the same time. I have the feeling that the anonymity gives users a feeling of being powerful. I note some people have may have violent (harsh) remarks due to this feeling of power.In addition in the video "Internet is a good or a bad thing?" We can see the negative aspects of internet such as pornography,the baby sales, the pirating, and the identity theft. Internet is compared to a weapons camera. Moreover with the internet, there is lack of privacy or the invasion of it.
To conclude Internet is a good thing because is a plat form open to the world to discover, exchange hobbies and to meet other people. But Internet is a bad thing , as well because the private life is tampered with and there are dishonest people on the internet too.
