Sagot :
This picture is showing the two aspects of cities like Mumbaï where there's no middle class. Either you earn enough money to live in the modern city, either you don't and you live in a shanty town with no running nor drinking water ,no electricty, no nothing.
The impression given by this picture is like two parallel worlds, not in the same area and not in the same century, almost I should say, not even in the same country. As if two pictures had been stacked (superimposed).
The people living in the shanty towns often are people coming from country sides to big cities to find a job, but they don't. Or they work as rickshaws' drivers, those "taxis" with a guy on an old bike getting people from a place to another one. Sometimes they are four persons behind. The men are very skinny, sometimes in a bad shape because they're breathing the polution of the city. The kids rarely go to school; they try to get some money picking up bottles of plastic, or mmetal cans to get a few rupees.

I wouldn't like to live in the modern Mumbaï. It must be so polluted. I'm not saying I'd like to live in the shanty town either, but if I had some medical experience, I think I would like to try to go there to help them.It has been done in Calcutta in the "cité de la joie"(je ne sais pas s'il y a une traduc pour ça; je te laisse chercher). They need our help , so what not doing it. People go in these countries for turism, it could also be to help.
