Once upon a time, in Ireland, there was a man called Jack. He was very mean and very bad. One day, , he drank a lot of beer,then he met the bad Devil. The Devil wanted to take him to Hell. The Devil asked Jack for a glass of beer because he was thirsty. But Jack was miserly and he didn't want to pay for it. So the Devil turned himself into a gold coin. As soon as Jack saw the beautiful coin, he picked it up and put it into his bag. Now the Devil was his prisoner ! Then Jack liberated the Devil, but he made him promise never to take Jack to hell.
On the day Jack died, he went to Heaven, but he was not accepted because he was a mean person. He decided to go to to Hell but the Devil said "no" because he had promised.
The Devil gave Jack a burning ember and told him to go away. Jack took the ember into a cut-out pumpkin and made a lantern to light his way.
Now he roams the Earth with his lantern to find a place to live
