I will present you the spaces and exchanges notion. To begin with, I would like to give a definition of this notion: the notion spaces and exchanges talking about the geographical and symbolic areas that all societies occupy and the interactions between humans and different societies. To illustrate this we may wonder if a gap years is an advantage , an asset or no. We will see in a first part what the gap year is, and then we will see its advantages and its drawbacks.

To begin, the gap year is a kind of a sabbatical year but is you can take your gap year when you want, that's mine after college or during the college year, before starting a new job or after high school. A gap year can be anywhere in Australia or in Alaska. It's for any length of time indeed you can take a gap year for some weeks or for a complete year. This period depend of what you want to do over there, like teaching English or taking care of children who encountered problems. You can help a charity in slum too. All is based on the volunteering.
I have talked about what the gap year is and now I will speak about how a gap year can be benefit for us and its drawbacks.
A gap year present a lot of advantages. First of all, traveling around the world, while you travel you can meet people and discover new culture, a new lifestyle. It's permit to get out of your typical routine. It's a rewarding experience for students because they can do volunteer work and help poor people, moreover students can learn a foreign language and it's a way to get hands-on education. However, one of the major problems is money, indeed your parents may not support the travel and hotel cost. The others disadvantages concern your own feel, you can be homesick about missing your family and your friends for a year.

To conclude, I can say that taking a gap year for students is very gratifying for there resume but also for us because that can maybe change there life, there mind. They can found there purpose in life maybe like I saw in class with the document “postcard from the edge”. Indeed students can comeback like a better person and become open minded.
