1- At first, I thought the man was looking too young to have been participating to the great war. Then, it's easy, by the drawing, to see that'it's an old one.
The little boy is playing with soldiers, the girl is looking at a book probably on this subject and the man seems so far away as he was still in this war. He looks lost, depressed as if he was seeing hell.
2- Yes, of course, many interesting features are representing in this poster.
The father of theses kids doesn't seem so old. We can even suppose, his wife could have been pregnant when he had to leave. But he can't get rid of those war images. He seems to have been so traumatized by this period, he'll always be someone else
