Laure and Guillaume Efere lived in Lille in a large house and were rich. They
Had a cleaning lady and a gardener. Guillaume was a baker and Laure was a florist.
One evening, Laure returned from her work and found her dead husband in the living room. Laure called
Jeanne Lara, a private detective. She arrived at the scene of the crime.
She questioned Laure to find out who was there during the day.
Laure replied:
-The maid was there from 9:30 am until 12:00 pm and she returned from 1:30 pm
At 5.30 pm; And the gardener was there from 1pm to 4pm.
"And what time are you back?" Asked Jeanne.
"I came home at about 6pm!" Replied Laure.
Jeanne Lara went to see the gardener and the housekeeper, she questioned them.
-What were you doing between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm? Asked Jeanne to the gardener.
"I was at the bar with a friend, he will tell you," replied the gardener.
"Your friend will be sent for," said Jeanne.
-And you, Mrs ? Asked Jeanne.
-At 6:00 pm I was home.
"Have you any proof?"
-No.
Jeanne went to question the friend of the gardener.
"Were you with the gardener at the bar last night around 7:00 pm?"
"No, I was not with him."
"Did he have problems with Guillaume Efere?"
-No, I do not think so. But it seems to me that he was in love with Laure Efere.
She went to ask Laure to pretend she wanted to commit suicide,
Sad because she thought the gardener loved him.
The gardener did not want her to commit suicide, he admitted that he was the criminal.
