Sagot :
Bonsoir !
We all know or at least have heard that meat production has an heavy impact on the environment. Beef is the worst because it produces even more gas emissions (mainly methane) with greenhouse effect (émissions de gaz à effet de serre de méthane) than other livestock (bétail). Tons of water are needed for the wheat, lucerne (luzerne) and others to breed animals. In 2009, a third of the land mass of our planet was covered with cattle pastures. (pâturages pour bétail). I could give you lots of numbers telling you for example that one shower every day for a year represents the same amount of water needed for one kilo of meat.
One day, anyway, we'll have to be able to slow down a lot on meat eating, otherwise the impacts on a long term over deforestation, lack of water, food wasted and greenhouse effects will be a disaster.
So time has come to find a sustainable eating. Are we ready for that ?
In an abstract way, yes. But knowing that a sustainable eating would be eating insects....I'm not sure.
However, if we could at least try once, just once...In many Asian countries they're eating insects. They contain as much protein than beef or other meats and are very ecologic..
Are people ready to eat grilled grasshoppers or crickets instead of a T-bone steak ??? If we want to go forward, we have to. Insects restaurants already exist in France and probably in other counties apart Asia and people who have tried said it was delicious.
We're used to eat dead animals...said it that way ...it's not very appetizing, either ! English people don't eat rabbits, it's awful for them to eat a rabbit; it's like eating a cat !
We have to overcome our fears or disgusts and definitely go in that direction.
