Spaces and Exchanges I am going to talk about the notion of Spaces and Exchanges. Firstly, I would like to give a definition of this notion: actually an exchange is an act of giving and receiving something else in return. Those exchanges can be between two differents spaces like two states. This notion can be illustrate by many types of exchanges, I'm going to focus on tree types: commercials exchanges, migratory flow and exchanges which had become possible thanks to science. We studied a text named Modern Times which can be related to commercials exchanges. Indeed in this text we learned about an industrialist: Henry Ford. He was a pioneer of mass production, he produced cars on large scale thanks to the assembly line. He created a famous car, the Model T, which sold millions. In an audio document named Model T, we heard that this car was practical, durable and also affordable. Thanks to the Model T rural people came into the cities, as transportation was cheap. It was a revolutional invention because people could go wherever and whenever they wanted. In order to illustrate migratory flow, I am going to present a talk-show we studied: New Horizons. In this radio program, a mexican Alejandro is talking about the American Dream which is the reason why so many mexicans make the decision to move to the United States to start anew. Here the exchange is between two spaces that is to say: Mexico and The US. This migration permit to create a more multicultural society and in exchange of a better life the mexicans improve the US economy. The interaction between the Latinos and the American can be illustrate by another document named Spanglish. Spanglish mixts spanish and english words, this language has a meaningful cultural impact because it make possible to developp a hybrid identity among some Americans. But Spanglish is also a commercial strategy to sell products to the spanish minority in the USA. Finally I want to talk about the impact of science on society. In a document named Surrogates mothers in India, we saw that a doctor Dr Patel was a pioneer in her own field because she made possible for infertile couple to have a baby thanks to in-vitro fertilization. For this procedure a surrogate mother will take care of a foreign couple's baby in exchange of money. We can say that it's a good deal between the poor indian surrogate and the couple because they all benefit from this exchange. The couple will get a baby, the indian women gets money and can improve her life. The progress in science has a huge impact on society because its permit a new kind exchanges like Surrogacy. Lastly I would like to say that the notion of spaces and exchanges talks about societies defined by geographical spaces like we saw in Modern times. This notion also tackles new exchanges and communication between different people like in surrogacy. Spaces and Exchanges is especially illustrated by immigration in the USA because it involves the idea of space as immigrants are moving across countries and it also involves exchanges: immigrants come with their own share of cultural. Even though the USA was for long a country of immigrants, the country's policy towards immigration became more restrictive. I found this notion really interresting because I learned a lot about differents inventions which had an impact on the USA.aide :)
