On September 11, 2001, four suicide attacks took place on the same day in the United States by members of the Islamist network Al Quaïda. That morning, 19 terrorists hijacked four airliners on symbolic buildings in the northeast of the country. Two Boings crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. At the same time other hijackers rushed a third plane targeting the Pentagon and a fourth plane crashed into a field. 3000 people were found dead and thousands of people were injured.
