Abdelwahab Doukkali was born in Fes in 1941 the 1st January. He has
grown with his 12 brothers and sisters in a conservative family. He is a
Moroccan composer and performer. When he was 18 he went to Rabat. There
he worked at RTM
( Radio Television Maroc ). His colleagues, who have seen he was boring, encouraged him to move to Casablanca. There he entered for the first time the music culture. He worked in theatre and radio, as well, for 3 years, from 1959 to 1962. He went on tour in Algeria in 1962. After that he felt Morocco to set up in Cairo. He lived there for 3 years and he became famous outside North Africa. Then in 1965 he returned to Morocco. He continued to write and perform song all the 1990s. He has written some popularly songs as Kān yā mākān and Montparnasse. His songs are in Moroccan and literary Arabic as well. He wins many awards and honours like the Mérite et Dévouement français in 2004, the Grand prix Humanitaire de France in 2006. He received medals from Pope John Paul II and pope Benedict XVI. His music has been laid out in Moroccan several films
