Sagot :
At the beginning of the novel, eight characters, all of whom once perpetrated a homicide before which justice is impotent, are invited to visit an island to stay in a huge residence. Arrived they are greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, the two servants of the house who inform them that the owner of the island is absent. They do not care about his delay and settle comfortably. While they're all having a drink together, a strange thing happens with the living room's gramophone going off and declaring that all present guests have committed a crime. Panic seizes the guests. A short time later, a first victim is struck: Antony Marston chokes down a sip of his whiskey and dies on the spot. Fear seizes the guests but even more when we find the body of General Macarthur, the fractured skull. The fear begins to take place. The next day Mrs. Rogers will not get up and then the guests will find the dead of Mr Rogers skull opened in two. We realize that all these crimes are connected with a nurse's song inscribed in each of the chambers; We also realize that the ten children, enthroned on the table of the dining room disappear as the crimes occur. At breakfast Miss Brent dies of an injection; then in the evening, Judge Wargrave dies of a revolver bullet. There are only four living people left on the island. Research is done to find out if someone is hiding on the island but no hiding place is possible. The murderer is one of four survivors. The next day, Officer Blore is found, his head shattered by a clock, on the terrace. All crimes are linked together. Dr. Amstrong is found drowned. All that remains now is Vera Claythorne and Philip Lombard. Everyone, thinking of the guilt of the other, Vera grabbed Philip's revolver and killed him. Finally, remorse in the soul, Vera will hang itself. Who could have killed them? We did not know what had happened on the Negro Island until the day we discovered a bottle floating on the sea with a message that explained the mystery. She was Judge Wargrave. Wanting to commit a crime, he decided to kill people who committed crimes that went unpunished. He had committed all the crimes until he pretended to be dead for the others, when he was not. He continued to kill the survivors and let Vera commit suicide. As for him, he did the same afterwards very mysteriously. He thus delivered the solution of the affair of the Island of the Negro.
