I'm going to deal with the notion Places and Forms of Power. In politics and social science, power is the ability to influence people's behaviour. In Order to live together members of a community accept rules, regulations, laws. This helps to create social cohesion but can also lead to conflicts and tensions. Even when authority seems absolute, there are always counter-powers which.
How has America was changed by the great movements of counter-power ?

At first I m' going to talk about the black movement of the twentieth century in America and then the recent movements.
In America previously the white population did segregation. In fact during a long time there weren't rights for black community. That's why there were a men and a women who did a revolution for change the things, for change the government. Martin Luther King fought against segregation, the racism against the black people. All his life he defended this injustice. Gandhi inspired him, effectively Martin L. King was the leadership of the first negro nonviolent demonstration. Martin L. King fought for the rights of the blacks, for blacks and whites will come about equal. In women's figure there was also Rosa Parks. She contested against civil rights like Martin Luther King. She was the mother of the freedom movement. Parks refused to obey a bus driver because the rules were inequal. However in the bus the first four rows of seats on each Montgomery bus were reserved for whites. Thus the blacks mustn't seat in these places. Today thanks for these men and women these rules and rights inequals are abolish.
Rosa Parks and Martin L. King are icons in our society. The great movements inspired all future decades.

Nowadays these activists movements for help the world they multiply. All the people in the world feel concerned for these movements which have a global scale. In fact for example the movement against the pollution make demonstations around the world. In Alaska coast there were activists raise up pollution. These activists protested against oil exploration. They were likely to fail but they were all so likely to succed in fighting against the polluters. They wanted to denounce pollution made by multinational firms. These activists form association like Green Peace. Thus the activist movement can be occur by people who wants to change a political system in our gouvernment. The mouvement of "Occupy Wall Street" for protest against the responsability of banks about the actual financial crisis. These activists claim the 99 pourcent, they are getting nothing while the other 1 percent is getting everything.

For conclusion, America was changed thanks people who haven’t be afraid for the others, for the polluters, the inequal power, the inequalites. These men and women did incredible acts for help their continent. Effectively a lot of things were change as segregation, racism, pollution... This process for change America isn’t finish.
