Christopher Columbus is an Italian navigator born in 1451 on the territory of Genoa.
He was the first to discover America in 1492, when he thought he had found a new path to India.
In 1492, he left with three ships, the Santa Maria, the Pinta and the Niña. It was during this voyage that he discovered America (or rather the Caribbean) on October 12, 1492, after 62 days of sailing, believing that it was the Indies.
